CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Police are tracking down four alleged members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) who carjacked the car of an engineer in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
Chief Supt. Edgardo T. Ladao, Police Regional Office 3 director, said they are also verifying the identities of the four suspects to determine if they are really CIDG operatives.
Ladao said the suspects took the Honda City (WRX-761) of Glen Alday Ytturalde, 36, a resident of Dau Homesite, Barangay Dau, Mabalacat City. The victim works at Almerthron Company in Clark Freeport.
The carjacking which occurred last June 6 was reported to the regional office of the PNP-Highway Patrol Group 3 here by the victim on Friday.
Ytturalde narrated to HPG3 chief investigator SPO1 Roy Bravo that he was on his way for work when the incident happened.
He said that upon reaching the San Isidro Church in Barangay San Francisco he made a stop and parked his car at the shoulder of MacArthur Highway to urinate. But after doing so, four armed men who introduced themselves as operatives of the PNP-CIDG assigned in Central Visayas accosted him.
At gunpoint, he was ordered by the suspects to board the backseat of his car. Inside the car, the suspects tied his hands and blindfolded him.
He said the suspects made a stop at a gasoline station along the North Luzon Expressway and gassed-up before proceeding to Carmona, Cavite.
According to the victim, the suspects handed him P1,000 before leaving him somewhere in Carmona.
He said the suspects told him that they will inflict no harm on him and only wanted his car.
Police said the suspects also took the victim’s computer laptop and personal belongings amounting to P150,000.
Bravo said the stolen car is a service car assigned to the victim by his employer.
Investigators theorized that the suspects needed the car to carry out a heist before abandoning it.
