ANGELES CITY—All 37 examinees enrolled at the City College of Angeles (CCA) here recently passed the National Assessment Examination for the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) accreditation.
CCA students who took and passed the assessment examination last November 16 and 17 include 22 students for Computer Hardware Servicing from the courses of Information System and Computer Science; and 15 students from the Tourism course for Front Office Service.
“We all know for a fact that CCA is a ‘neophyte’ compared to the existing vocational schools in the city. But having this 100% passing mark indicates that we are doing well in our delivery of quality and affordable education to our indigent students,” said CCA President Averell Laquindanum.
Laquindanum added that “the passing rate was achieved by the students because the college administration embedded the National Certificate Level II (NCII) on the college’s curriculum.
This includes practical, experimental classroom modules and training regulations which are vital in attaining NCII accreditation as recommended by TESDA.
“The TESDA certification ensures them with a bright future,” said Laquindanum as students are entitled to soon receive their national certification from the agency.
“These exams are non-compulsory and are competency-based; meaning, having passed the examination guarantees that the student has accumulated the necessary skills for field work,” Laquindanum explained.
On the other hand, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan expressed his gratitude in the overwhelming result of the assessment examination.
“This only proves that among our indigent families here in Angeles are brilliant youths who are now given the chance to raise their state of living through education in our very own city college.” said Pamintuan.
“I have no regrets that we have built the city college instead of a sports complex.” he added.
Recently, Pamintuan and members of the school administration had a meeting with SMK Electronics Corporation for the soon tie-up under the city college’s “dual training system” (DTS).
The city government is also in the process of reviewing the company’s proposals as well as the completion of accreditation requirements for this DTS in the city college.
“This 100% passing rate establishes the college’s credibility to our partner companies. This also indicates that our city, under the leadership of Pamintuan, is serious in delivering what is promised,” Laquindanum added.
